ABOUT ME

Who we are....
I am trained in the field of architecture and architectural design and migrated to building construction as it was the next logical step. One would ask how someone goes from the field of architecture and building to marine canvas and upholstery? The answer is for the combination of the love of boats and creating beautiful and aesthetically pleasing projects. My first yacht was a Carver Mariner which I lived on for three years in the summer months. The Carver was a nice yacht when purchased but I spent the next five years bringing her to the next level and is now one of the nicest older boats on Narragansett Bay today. The experience of boating and boating life had me hooked as a pleasant way to live. I graduated to a larger Sea Ray Express which I brought back from the edge of being a tired and used up boat. In addition to my knack of restoring boats, in general, I am very good at finished carpentry and working with my hands. Combine all these elements and I was excited to start a company where I can be around yachts and work with my hands. There is a satisfaction of recreating cushions or an enclosure and giving an older boat a well-deserved update.
At Junior’s, my knowledge in architecture, design, and building directly correlates to the estimating of materials, procurement of materials, design and construction of canvas enclosures and upholstery.
In the building industry, I was responsible for maintaining my own budget and ordering materials was a key element in maintaining the budget. We do not order excess materials just to make it easy and have the owner pay for them. We will draft a sketch of what is to be constructed (for example a bimini top or cushions) and figure what is the best way to maximize the materials while not sacrificing the quality and appearance. If creating new cushion foam, we will maximize the foam and glue the pieces together to create a larger cushion.
Why Junior’s
In a few words: quality and attention to detail and someone who will be working for you to make you the best product possible. Before getting into the business, I was a client and purchased a new enclosure for my yacht. In the end, I was not totally happy with the fitment and finish of the final product. To that end, now being in the business and knowing of the details associated with upholstery and canvas work, I realize even more that there is a better way to create the final product.
